Pacifico Energy has reached a defining milestone in the race to power AI infrastructure at scale. The company has secured a 7.65 gigawatt (GW) TCEQ air permit for its GW Ranch project in West Texas—the largest permitted power generation campus ever approved in the United States.
This approval moves GW Ranch from concept to execution-ready and positions Pacifico at the center of one of the most important constraints facing the AI economy today: reliable, scalable power.
As hyperscale data centers and AI workloads accelerate, traditional electric grids are struggling to keep up. Interconnection queues are stretching for years, electricity prices are rising, and reliability expectations continue to tighten. Pacifico’s answer is a private-grid energy campus purpose-built for large, always-on digital infrastructure—designed to scale quickly without burdening public ratepayers.
GW Ranch is planned as a hybrid system combining:
- 7.65 GW of natural gas generation
- 1.8 GW of battery energy storage
- 750 MWac of solar
- >99.99% targeted availability
The project spans 8,000+ build-ready acres in Pecos County, Texas, with multiple natural gas supply laterals, including direct access to the Waha hub—providing fuel optionality that few projects can match. Phase 1 is sized at 1 GW, with first power targeted for H1 2027 and a clear pathway to scale beyond 5 GW.
From an investment perspective, GW Ranch stands out for three reasons:
Regulatory certainty. Large energy projects often stall in permitting. Clearing the TCEQ process at this scale significantly de-risks execution.
Structural tailwinds. AI-driven power demand is growing faster than grid infrastructure can adapt, increasing the value of off-grid and private-grid solutions.
Capital efficiency at scale. Purpose-built, co-located power reduces interconnection risk, improves reliability, and accelerates time-to-revenue for customers.
Pacifico Energy has developed, owned, and operated more than 1,750 MW of power projects since its founding in 2009 and is advancing a 10 GW global development pipeline. GW Ranch represents a step-change in size—and a signal that energy infrastructure is becoming as strategic as compute itself.

In a market where power is now the bottleneck, Pacifico is positioning itself not as a utility, but as an enabler of the AI economy.
